Add Model Auth status dashboard
TL;DR
Introduce a Model Auth status card in the Control UI to monitor OAuth token health and provider rate-limit pressure at a glance.
## What changed OpenClaw added a Model Auth status card to the Control UI. The card displays OAuth token health and provider rate-limit pressure in one view. The feature became available on 18 May 2026 for all self-hosted installs.
Users now see token expiry warnings and current usage caps without checking provider dashboards separately. The card pulls data directly from connected LLM accounts.
## Why it matters Vibe Builders who run OpenClaw on a VPS often hit silent token failures or sudden rate limits. This card surfaces those issues before tasks stall or costs spike.
The change reduces the need for constant manual checks across multiple provider portals. It shifts some operational load from the user back to the agent runtime.
## How to use it Update OpenClaw to the latest release through the existing CLI command. Restart the agent and open the Control UI at the default local port.
The status card appears automatically once at least one model provider is configured. No extra YAML keys or paid plans are required.
## Watch for Confirm the bet if token expiry alerts prevent missed heartbeats over the next month. The feature breaks if the card shows stale data after provider-side changes. Expect OpenClaw to add similar cards for memory usage and browser session counts next.
Harsh’s take
Most solo operators still lose hours to silent OAuth failures and surprise rate-limit blocks. This card makes those problems visible but does not fix them. You still carry the cost of monitoring and manual token rotation.
The real trade-off is time spent on maintenance versus time saved on actual work. If you already track tokens in a separate Notion page or script, the new card adds little beyond a prettier view.
Do this now: set a weekly calendar reminder to review the card and rotate any token that shows under 30 percent headroom.
