## What changed Perplexity released Comet as a dedicated iOS app on March 18, 2026. The app delivers the same high-speed AI browsing that previously existed only inside the main Perplexity mobile site or the Android version launched in November 2025.
No new pricing tier was announced. Users sign in with an existing Perplexity account and keep the same free or Pro limits they already have.
## Why it matters A native iOS client removes the friction of opening Safari or the web wrapper. For Vibe Builders who already route research through Perplexity before feeding results into Notion or Zapier, the app makes quick checks on the go more reliable.
It also signals that Perplexity is treating Comet as a separate product line rather than a temporary experiment. That choice puts pressure on browser extensions and other AI search tools that still rely on web views.
## How to use it Download Comet from the App Store. Sign in with the same email or SSO used on the web. The app respects existing Pro subscriptions, so no extra payment step is required.
Once open, tap the search field to start a new thread or continue a conversation started on another device. Results can be copied directly into Notes, Shortcuts, or any automation that accepts text.
## Watch for Confirm the bet if daily active users inside the app exceed web mobile traffic within six months. The bet breaks if Apple review delays or App Store policy changes limit background refresh or link handling. Expect an iPad-optimized version or deeper Shortcuts integration as the next adjacent move.
Harsh’s take
A dedicated iOS app does not change the core value of Perplexity for most solo operators. It simply removes one tap and one tab. The real test is whether the app keeps context across devices without forcing users back to the web version for longer sessions.
Trade-off is clear: you gain speed on the phone but still manage two separate interfaces if you also run Computer or the desktop experience. That split adds small context-switching costs every day.
Do this now: install the app, run your next three research queries inside it, then measure how many of those results actually make it into your active Zapier or Notion workflows. If the number stays flat, delete the app and keep using the browser bookmark.
